Katrina Relief

Dear Lions of Iowa:

What a generous offer!  It is truly amazing to see how Lions from all over the world are responding to the needs here along the Gulf Coast.
Lions of Alabama are working in the area of the extreme southern portion of Alabama, a community known as Bayou La Batre, I will attach some geographic information about the area.
Your offer of tools and building supplies is awesome and we would certainly be honored to be the recipient of some of this.  We have (Lions) a warehouse in Mobile, Al. that we are having items delivered to and distribution will be made as needed from this warehouse.

Warehouse address is:
A. S. Mitchell Industries for the Blind
2440 Gordon Smith Drive
(Just off Stanton Road 1/2 block from USA Medical Center)
Mobile, Al. 36617

We need for the supplies to be on pallets and also ETA so that we can ensure that Lions will be there.  The warehouse is open from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM  Mon thru Fri.  If you decide to send the supplies our way we can talk further along the way.

Yours in Lionism

Mr. Kusiak:

Last evening at our local Lions Club Board Meeting here in northeast
Iowa, I challenged our club members to not only think about the
financial assistance that we might be able to send to our brothers
and sisters in the south, but to go one step further.

I challenged our local club to come up with at least 1000 lbs of
construction-related tools and supplies to send to help with the
reconstruction.  Tonight I am attending a Zone Meeting, at which I
will challenge the clubs in out Zone to meet that amount from their
local clubs.

I envision hammers, saws, nails, screws, prybars, screwdrivers,
levels, socket sets, cement tools -- all manner of smaller items that
we can then send to aid our fellow Lions.  I dream of a loaded
semi-trailer, rolling down the road towards the ravaged south; the
hands eager to work but without the tools, and the faces of
experienced men and women upon the arrival and opening of that truck.

I would ask for your assistance in helping put me in touch with some
one or ones who can help me to know WHERE these materials are needed.
What state or local Lion's representative(s) can I start with to
offer our limited assistance in this way?

I thank you in advance for you work on behalf of us all, and for
taking the time in your busy schedule to help us to help.

Dear LION KUSIAK,

We, the Lions in Pakistan, are grieved to know the havocs, hitting a number of key American cities, wrecking untold miseries, in the wake of "Hurricane Katrina" and "Hurricane Rita", hitherto unheard to all of us.

Dear Past President, these are the natural calamities over which we human-beings have no control but, together, we can face it through our united campaign towards the restitution and rehabilitation of our brothers and sisters in distress.

Dear Past President, dont feel alone and deserted. We are with you and your stricken people in this hour of disasters. Please let us know which tide ofrelief or assistance is mostly needed to meet this crisis wrought on such a mass-scale.

We, in Pakistan, would do our utmost to donate our share to the "Relief Fund" we have already established in this connection.

Praying for the safety and welfare for our brethren in Lionism and those at large.

     With Lionistic regards,

Lion Azadar H. Zaidi
